Where Hevy is the better pick

Hevy runs on almost everything, including Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS and the web. LiftCamp is iPhone only for now.

Hevy also has a large social side, with a feed, followers and leaderboards. If training alongside friends who already use Hevy matters to you, that's hard to beat.

And its free version is generous. You can log as many workouts as you like, with charts covering the last 3 months.

Where LiftCamp is the better pick

LiftCamp is built for people who are new to the gym. Every exercise page tells you what weight to start with, the mistakes to watch for and what to do if the machine is taken. Hevy shows you how an exercise looks, and LiftCamp also tells you how heavy to go on day one.

You also start with a plan. LiftCamp has 31 ready-made routines, from a 2-day full body routine to push pull legs, all free. Hevy's free version lets you save up to 4 routines.

And your history stays yours. Logging, your full workout history and your PRs are free in LiftCamp and always will be.

Switching from Hevy

LiftCamp imports your Hevy history. Export your workouts from Hevy as a CSV file, then open LiftCamp and go to Settings, then Your data, then Import workouts.

Your workouts and sets come across with their real dates, so your PRs, progress charts, strength levels and streak medals pick them up straight away. LiftCamp matches each exercise to its own library, and you choose a match or skip any it isn't sure about.

Importing is free and needs a free LiftCamp account. Routines don't come across, so pick one of LiftCamp's or save your own after your first workout. If you change your mind, you can remove imported workouts in Settings without touching anything you logged in LiftCamp.

Which one should you use?

If you already know your way around the gym and want the most features, or you need Android or a watch app, Hevy is a great choice.

If you're in your first few months and want to know what to do, how much to lift and what to swap when a machine is busy, start with LiftCamp.
